Portugal international Nelson Oliveira may be the man Swansea City have looked to solve their striking trouble in the New Year.
Oliveira, 23, will join the Swans on loan Fifa Coins for sale ’till the end with the season on 1 January, the club announced on Tuesday.
His arrival solves a difficulty for manager Garry Monk, that will lose top scorer Wilfried Bony towards the CAF Africa Cup of Nations next month.
Bony could miss nearly six games in January and February, and Bafetimbi Gomis is the only other recognised senior striker within the squad.
“I’m really awaiting it,” Oliveira told Swansea’s official website. “I know already a lot about Swansea, and it was their type of play plus the ambience on the club that attracted me. It had been a simple decision to produce.”
Oliveira, who have won 14 caps for his country and played for Portugal at UEFA EURO 2012, joins from Benfica, where he has struggled to make a direct effect.
He spent last season on loan at French club Rennes, where he scored eight goals in 30 league appearances. fifa15coin2f
